We will be holding our monthly social on Friday, May 18 beginning at 6:30pm.

We will be having a Potluck.  So bring your best dish out.

Let’s try to have a 100% turn out!  We look forward to hearing from everyone.  This is a social event, so it involves all Knights and their family members.

Knights of Columbus Fundraiser

TCBY Sunday Social

TCBY will be sponsoring a fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus Council 14041 at both Bartlett locations on Sunday, May 20, 2012.  When you go in and say, “I’m with Nativity,” TCBY will donate $.50 per serving purchased to our Council. The participating locations are at 6600 Stage Road (in the Stage Centre next to Fresh Slices) and at 7994 Stage Road (Highway 64 next to Hobby Lobby.)  Come out and socialize with your fellow parishioners while supporting the Knights of Columbus and TCBY!!!!

Monthly Officers’/Committee Meeting will be held on the Sunday, May 20, 2012 at its usual time 6:30 PM at the Church of the Nativity.

The Council Business Meetings are on the 4th Thursday of every month.  We start with the Rosary at 6:30 with the Business Meeting to follow. We encourage all members to join us.

Adoration is held for all parishioners, family and friends every first Friday of the Month from 5pm to 10pm.

We are in need of two parishioners to sign up and volunteer per hour.  I encourage each of you to come and sit with Jesus for an hour.  You can pray the Rosary, sit quietly, talk in silent prayer to Jesus in the Host, bring a spiritual book, the list is endless. I encourage you to bring your family and loved ones. If we don’t bring our children to Jesus, how will they get to know Him and discern His will (I suspect one or two of us has a son or daughter who has a calling from God to the Priesthood or Religious life)?

Notify Brother Jose Ibarra as soon as you can and what time you can volunteer.  It is important that two parishioners be present at every hour.

Wednesday, June 6, 2012, is Nativity night at Stevi B’s.  Stevi B’s will donate $.75 to the Knights of Columbus for each buffet sold when you mention that you are from Nativity.  Come join the fun, and have an easy meal, Wednesday evening and show your support for the Knights of Nativity!

The Agent for our Council 14041 is Mr. William Dunaway and is always available to answer your questions and fulfill your insurance needs!

Pope St Pius V Feast Day 4/30/2012

“O God who didst choose Blessed Pius V as supreme Pontiff in order to shatter the enemies of Thy Church and to restore the purity of the Sacred Liturgy; grant us his protection so that cleaving to Thy service we may overcome the snares of all our enemies and enjoy perpetual peace. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. St. Pius V pray for us, protect the Roman Liturgy.”

We say this prayer at the end of every meeting but do we really understand what the prayer means and what we are asking?

Perhaps it would be a good opportunity to look at two specific events during the reign of  Pope Pius V that were significant: the codifying and standardization of the Roman Liturgy also referred to as the Tridentine Rite but commonly known to us as the Latin Mass and the Battle of Lepanto, which stemmed Ottoman expansion in the Mediterranean and prevented their influence from spreading west.

It is appropriate during this time of transition to new leadership in our Council to remind ourselves of our “Back to Basics” motto and reflect on the Pope who laid the frame work through his formal papal document, Quo Primum, (http://www.stpiusvshrine.org/resource/stpius/quo_primum.htm) to rediscover and get back to our Catholic roots.

We are also called to continue the work of Council One founded by Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney, who called us to move inward toward God and outward to society through service to those in need. In our own Council we accomplish this by following our Mission Statement which calls us to focus on:

1.         Programs of Marian and Eucharistic Adoration.
2.         Promote family life and priestly vocations.
3.         Works of charity.
